After having headlined the Pyramid Stage at the iconic Glastonbury music festival for the first time in her career, Dua Lipa was taken to task after fans believed that she mimed her set.
Displeased with her performance one fanatic took to X with.”It’s a shame #DuaLipa can’t sing live. Don’t turn up to glasto and mime. Rubbish,” while another agreed, writing “Worst miming you’ll ever see #DuaLipa,” said another. “‘Is Dua Lipa miming or? How can it sound like miming and a mic not being loud enough at the same time.”
Notwithstanding the above, other audience members praised the superstar singer’s performance with “Smashed it dua lipa,” with another adding, “Dua Lipa’s been pretty good actually. I only know One Kiss, but her voice is better than I’d thought it would be.”
Now 28-years old English-Albanian musician opened her show with ‘Training Season,’ from her recently released third full length, telling the crowd, “I can’t believe this, I’ve dreamed about this my whole life. And I can’t believe I’m right up here, right here, with you guys, I am so happy to be here with you guys tonight.”
After coming under scrutiny for not having many rock bands in the line up, Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis had previously defended the festival line-up and stated that Dua was “born” to headline the festival.
“I think the line-up reflects what’s happening in the music world at the moment – there aren’t a lot of new rock acts to choose from, if I’m honest,” she said. “Hopefully that will emerge again, my heyday was 1995 with Pulp and Oasis and Radiohead… and that was great, but music changes all the time and right now this is where we’re at.”
