‘Super Bowl LVIII will begin with a triple set threat of pre-game performances from Post Malone, Andra Day, and Reba McEntire.
Ahead of America’s most watched sporting event, during which time Usher will lead the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday (2.11,) the three superstar singers will play Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
McEntire will start the evening by singing the national anthem, followed by Malone who will deliver “America the Beautiful” and Day will complete the pre-game finalé with her rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
Having previously directed halftime shows by Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Shakira with Jennifer Lopez, and by Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 cent, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning musical director, Adam Blackstone will produce and arrange McEntire and Day’s performances.
In his 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Blackstone stated “I’ve learned patience. I’ve learned that it’s bigger sometimes than the music, the corporate of it all.” “Sometimes we have to alter things to make sure that people are respected, [when it comes to] language and stuff like that. So it is definitely us navigating through the music and through some other things. But I’ve also learned that music helps push culture forward, and we’re literally fitting a concert into the biggest game of the year. Sometimes people end up tuning in just to see that concert, so I’m thankful to be a part of that.”
Malone, McEntire, and Day will have their performances paired with American Sign Language performances. Coda actor Daniel Durant will sign the national anthem, actress and model Anjel Piñero will sign “America the Beautiful,” and actor and choreographer Shaheem Sanchez will sign “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
