Closing the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday night (10.15,) Cher performed a medley of her greatest hits!
Wrapping up the New York City Brooklyn Navy Yard event, the legendary singer surrounded by dancers and a choir, took the stage singing her 1998 track ‘Strong Enough,’ and while standing atop a gold platform while models Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Candice Swanepoel, and Adriana Lima walked the runway in pink and red lingerie, Cher performed her classic song ‘Believe.’
In advance in her appearance, the now 78-year old superstar (born ?) told Entertainment Tonight that she was excited to be a part of the re-invented event.:
“I like that it’s all women. It’s like if you are going to go to something like this, I think that all women can really make a difference,” adding that in lieu of her donning Bob Mackie ensembles she opted for a “kinda plain” black sequin jumpsuit.
In addition to Cher, K-pop star LISA and South African singer Tyla also performed at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show reboot that was cancelled in 2019 after brand executives were criticized for failing to promote diversity and inclusivity.
Per the event’s recent overhaul, the legendary brand announced the show would return this year and “deliver precisely what our customers have been asking for – the glamour, runway, fashion, fun, wings, entertainment – all through a powerful, modern lens reflecting who we are today”.
Gigi opened the show in a light pink silk romper, giant pink feathered angel wings, and sparkly pink stilettos, while her sister Bella followed in a red lace lingerie set that was matched with a red ombré-feathered coat. Other familiar models included Irina Shayk, Doutzen Kroes, Ashley Graham, Paloma Elsesser, Behati Prinsloo, Josephine Skriver, Jasmine Tookes, Barbara Palvin, and Tyra Banks.
UK supermodel Kate Moss also made her Victoria’s Secret debut, while models Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio made history as the first transgender models to ever walk in the show.
