Celine Dion’s Unexpected Grammy Appearance

In a recent interview Celine Dion admitted that her surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammys “took a lot out of” her.

After the legendary chanteuse unexpectedly took the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles in February to present the Album of the Year, she received a standing ovation from the star-studded audience. That moment marked Dion’s first public appearance in two years since she initially announced her stiff person syndrome diagnosis in December of 2022.

In a Life in Looks video that accompanies her Vogue France cover, the Canadian hitmaker reflected on the “touching” experience, stating:

“It was very nerve-wracking, but at the same time, a big honour.” “That magic. That excitement. To see the fans, to see the crowd. To see show business again.” “It took a lot, a lot out of me. But my son, René Charles – RC – came and gave me his support… But it’s always very, very touching when you have a standing ovation.”

The now 56-year old star added that she was honored to present the prestigious award to Taylor Swift for her Midnights LP. And although Swift received online backlash for not acknowledging Dion during her speech, they quickly squashed any negative rumors by posing for photos together backstage.

In the video, the Canadian icon also admitted she wasn’t sure about wearing her mustard Valentino coat onstage but her stylist Law Roach convinced her that she could do “whatever you want in fashion”.  “It made me feel better for a moment to hold onto this coat, to hide myself a little bit from all these little things.”
