Busta Rhymes Charged With Assault

After allegedly punching a man in the face, Busta Rhymes has been charged with assault.

On Thursday (1.16,) a spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed that the rapper/actor turned himself in at a police station in Brooklyn on Tuesday night (1.14.)

Scheduled to make an appearance in court on February 2, the legendary musician (born Trevor Smith Jr.,) has been charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault, and harassment.

Per the NYC Police spokesperson, the investigation into the case is “ongoing,” yet a representative for the 52-year-old defendant has yet to comment on the news.

Law enforcement sources told editors at The New York Post that Busta’s alleged victim was his personal assistant and that the incident had supposedly taken place on January 10 inside a building in Brooklyn with the hip-hop star allegedly lashing out after noticing the employee was “on his phone during work”.

According to insiders, the Hip Hop icon punched his assistant “in the face several times, leaving him with swelling in his left eye”.

Not the first time the Grammy Award-nominated artist has had a brush with the law, in 2015, Rhymes was charged with assault after he allegedly threw a protein drink at an employee in a Manhattan gym.
