In an effort to continue his takeover of The Tonight Show, on Tuesday (11.15) Bruce Springsteen performed the soul classic “Turn Back the Hands of Time.”
Backed by an ensemble of strings, horns, and a four backup singers, The Boss delivered an emotional rendition of the 1970 hit previously recorted by R&B greats Tyrone Davis, as well as Jimmy and David Ruffin.
Featured on Only the Strong Survive, Springsteen’s new full length of classic covers, the legendary rocker’s three-night stint on Jimmy Fallon’s show began Monday (11.14) with his version of Frank Wilson’s “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do),” followed by a sit-down interview with Fallon that canvassed his first tour with the E Street Band in six years, commonly misheard lyrics in his songs, and his promise to attend at least one show on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
Though the iconic singer’s late night talk show residency ended Wednesday (11.16.), Springsteen will return to The Tonight Show for a special Thanksgiving episode on November 24.
