In a taste of her soon-to-be releases tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears admits that she got pregnant and had an abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake as he “didn’t want to be a father”.
In an excerpt from her book obtained by People, the embattled pop star writes “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.” “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.” “If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
Addressing the pregnancy termination, Spears shared, “To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life.”
Two years following the end of Britney and Justin’s relationship, she married dancer Kevin Federline, and the pair welcomed two sons, Sean Preston, now 18 and Jayden James, now 17. Justin and his wife/actress Jessica Biel, share two sons of their own, eight year old Silas, eight, and two year old Phineas.
Now 41, Britney, and the NSYNC star, now 42, famously dated from 1999 until 2002.
The highly anticipated Britney Spear memoir is set to be released on 24 October.
