Seeking treatment following her recent DUI arrest as “the best step,” Britney Spears has voluntarily checked into rehab.
In a Sunday (4.12) statement to People, a representative for the embattled superstar confirmed that Spears had checked herself into a treatment facility a few days prior, “somewhere in the United States,”
The latest drama follows the 44-year old singer’s March 4 Ventura, California arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol (DUI.)
After Spears was released from custody the following day, the musician’s rep stated that it was an “unfortunate incident” and “completely inexcusable,” adding:
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.” “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.” “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.”
Throughout her career, Britney Spears has sought treatment for various health and substance issues, including prior 2007, 2008 and 2019 rehabilitation stints.
