Preempted on Friday (8.29) by ‘Red, White and Jersey,’ the record’s first single, come October 24, Bon Jovi will drop their new 14-track full length collaboration, Forever (Legendary Edition.)
In a statement about their forthcoming project, Jon Bon Jovi said “This album is more than just a collection of collaborations, it is an album borne out of necessity. My vocal cord surgery and subsequent rehab was a well-documented journey that played out while releasing Forever in June 2024.” “I was singing well enough in the studio for the recording, but the vocal demands and rigours of touring were still out of reach for me.”
Including the likes of James Bay, Robbie Williams, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Avril Lavigne and Bruce Springsteen, Forever (Legendary Edition) features performances from a host of mega-musicians.
Thrilled to work with some of his musical peers on the new record, the band’s front man added:
“Without the ability to tour or promote an album we were all very proud of, I decided to call on some friends to help me in my time of need. All are great singers, artists, and also just great people.” “The result is an album with a new viewpoint and new spirit – a collaboration album that proves we all get by in this world with a little help from our friends. I feel tremendous joy and gratitude releasing this album and I think it shows in the music. I can say with certainty that there is always something bigger than me, and that’s we.”
Comparing his previously vocal chord surgery to an athlete suffering an injury, in 2024 the New Jersey native NPR “I was overusing it.” “Even though I’m trained and I have studied the craft for these 40 years, eventually the body gives out. It’s not dissimilar to being an athlete.” And about his recovery he said “The process has been slower than I’d hoped for, but the progress and the process are really doing very well.” “I’m currently able to sing. For me now, the bar is, can I do two and a half hours a night, four nights a week?”
