Bob Dylan Introduces Machine Gun Kelly LP: Look + Listen

Setting the stage for Lost Americana, Machine Gun Kelly‘s forthcoming full length due out August 8, Bob Dylan narrates the trailer.

Playing a role in the lead up to the 35-year old musician’s first LP since Mainstream Sellout (2022,) the now 84-year-old icon took fans by surprise when he shared footage of the rap rocker via Instagram in February.

In the video teaser that features MGK having fun with friends and hanging out in the mountains, Dylan says of the collection: “It’s a sonic map of forgotten places, a tribute to the spirit of reinvention and a quest to reclaim the essence of American freedom.” “From the glow of neon diners to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces. Where the past is reimagined, and the future is forged on your own terms.”

Earlier this year, Bob shared a clip of younger musician (born Colson Baker) performing acoustically at Park Ave CDs store in Orlando, Florida, subsequent to which Kelly got to meet Dylan “all because of a video of me rapping in a music store 10 years ago.”

Along with Billie Strings, John Stamos, and Johnny Knoxville, MGK joined Dylan onstage at Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour stop in Los Angeles and after the gig he took to X with “i met and had a conversation with someone last night that i never thought i’d get the honor to meet all because of a video of me rapping in a music store 10 years ago. i love music. (sic)”
