Confirming their first new LP in nine years and the last to feature co-founding drummer Clem Burke, who passed away in 2025, Blondie have unveiled High Noon.
Preempted by the lead single ‘Spectral Eyes,’ written and originally released as a solo tune by Johnny Marr in 2018, the follow-up to the legendary band’s 2017’s Pollinator is slated to drop on February 26, 2027.
About their forthcoming collection, front woman Debbie Harry said the new LP captures everything Blondie is known for, while still pushing forward, adding “This album is cl assic Blondie – an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new.” “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.”
Speaking recently, Harry pushed back at the idea of Blondie continuing without its original core, saying she’s “against the idea” of performing under the name without the “original guys” who shaped the band’s identity.
Keeping his comments predictably direct, original band member Chris Stein said “It’s been a long, strange ride, and somehow here we are with another Blondie album. I’m not sure what the f*** I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we’re incredibly grateful for all your support over the years.”
Keeping the energy raw, the legendary punk rockers work on High Noon started in New York in 2022, with the band building the songs together in the studio with producer John Congleton, and once the musical foundations were in place, further production and mixing from David Wrench helped shape the sound.
Combining Blondie’s past with a cinematic, future-leaning style he describes as living “between the past, present and future,” Longtime visual collaborator Rob Roth has created a new aesthetic for the forthcoming full length campaign.
From the downtown-leaning ‘Heartbreak Kid’ to Sex Pistol Glen Matlock’s punk-charged ‘Sleepwalking,’ plus a modern reimagining of ‘Little Metal Drummer’ the track list pulls from every corner of the band’s history.
