Björk Blasts Donald Trump

Following President Donald Trump‘s threats to seize Greenland, Björk issued a blistering statement against the “cruel colonizer.”

Sending well wishes via X to the people of Greenland “in their fight for independence,” the iconic Icelandic singer called the prospect of seeing Greenland fall under US control “too brutal to even imagine,” adding:

“I wish all Greenlanders blessing in their fight for independence.” “Icelanders are extremely relieved that they managed to break from the Danish in 1944… and I burst with sympathy for Greenlanders.” “Colonialism has repeatedly given me horror chills up my back, and the chance that my fellow Greenlanders might go from one cruel colonizer to another is too brutal to even imagine.”

Along with a photo of a map of Greenland with its flag superimposed on top, the singer (born Björk Guðmundsdóttir) shared a translated Icelandic quote “Out of the frying pan and into the fire”.

Talks of Greenland being next in line for an American takeover come after Saturday’s dramatic capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, amid the US military strike on Caracas, Venezuela’s capital.

Denmark’s semi-autonomous territory and a NATO ally, Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in taking control of Greenland, and over the weekend, he told The Atlantic, “We absolutely need Greenland. We need it for defense.”
