Billy Ray Cyrus Wins Maternity Lawsuit

Addressing a woman who claimed to be Miley Cyrus’ biological mother, Billy Ray Cyrus has scored a legal victory.

In a lawsuit filed in May, Jayme Lee alleged that she gave birth to the superstar singer/songwriter when she was 12 years old and subsequently entered into a “private adoption agreement” with the country music singer and his then-partner Tish Cyrus.

According to Lee, all parties agreed that she would get to name Miley – who was born Destiny Hope Cyrus – and work as her nanny and piano teacher.  However, the Cyrus family supposedly cut off all contact and “threatened (her) with police action” after Miley was born in November 1992, causing her “severe emotional distress”.

According to legal documents obtained by UK’s Daily Mail, Jayme accused Billy Ray and his then wife of “breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and unlawful interference with parental rights” and requested a supervised DNA test to prove the maternity and paternity of the Grammy award winning songstress.

Branding the claims “false and absurd” and arguing that Lee filed the lawsuit for the “purposes of harassing” the Cyrus family, on November 20, Billy Ray filed a motion to dismiss Lee’s allegations.

Billy Ray’s attorney told the Daily Mail that a judge dismissed Lee’s lawsuit permanently as of December 5 and “awarded Mr Cyrus the recovery of his reasonable and necessary attorney’s fees and costs”.

In addition to Miley, 33, Billy Ray and Tish also share son Braison, 31, and daughter Noah, 25. He also adopted her children, Brandi and Trace, from her previous marriage.

Following 28 years of marriage, Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April 2022, and he is now in a relationship with British actress Elizabeth Hurley, while Tish is married to Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell.

The aforementioned legal news comes shortly after Miley confirmed her engagement to musician Maxx Morando after four years of dating., and in celebration of the news, her father took to Instagram with “So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!! Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!! love Dad.”
