At 50 Calvin Harris Will Stop DJ’ing

Having turned 40 years old last month, Calvin Harris confirmed his plans to stop performing in ten years time in order to focus on writing and producing music.

In an interview with UK radio station Capital Dance the superstar DJ said “I always said that once I get past 50, I can’t see me DJing, man.” And when the show’s host MistaJam mentioned that British DJ Carl Cox is still playing at 61, Harris replied “It’s a certain type of DJing. On the more commercial end, it gets a wee bit… a little bit suspect.”

Adding that he’d prefer to stay out of the spotlight once he turns 50, the Scottish talent said “I think I’d prefer to be in the studio making tunes, like ghost producers. I think that’s where the majority of my talent lies, is making songs sound good. So, I would like to make other people’s records sound good.”

As far as the immediate future is concerned, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding will appear for the first time together at the BRIT Awards with Mastercard, where the deejay/producer and the pop star are expected to perform their mega-hit ‘Miracle’ at the awards ceremony on March 2 at London’s The O2 arena. The pair previously collaborated on such dance-pop anthems as ‘I Need Your Love’ (2012) and ‘Outside’ (2014.)
