The first single from her forthcoming seventh full length, today Ariana Grande released “Yes, And?”
Clearly inspired by Madonna’s iconic 1990 single ‘Vogue,’ Grande’s latest drop includes such lyrics as “No, I’m so done with caring/What you think/No, I won’t hide,” “healing from somebody” and requests that people “don’t comment on my body, do not reply.”
Taking to social media over the past several months the superstar singer has posted videos and snapshots of her in the studio with Swedish wünderkind Max Martin with whom she first worked on second album My Everything.
While Grande appeared on a variety of collaborations over the past few years – including two remixes of the Weeknd’s songs “Save Your Tears” (2021) and “Die for You” (2023,) Mariah Carey’s remix of her 2010 “Oh Santa!” alongside Jennifer Hudson (2020,) and on Demi Lovato’s “Met Him Last Night” (2021) – the chanteuse has not released a solo song since her Positions LP in 2020.
Prior to the new year, Grande shared a social media post reflecting on her 2023, writing “One of the most transformative, most challenging, and yet happiest and most special years of my life.” She added, “There were so many beautiful and yet polarized feelings. I’ve never felt more at the mercy of and in acceptance of what life was screaming to teach me. I feel more human than ever. I feel more deeply than ever. I feel softer and stronger, all at once.”
