Smokey Robinson is one of several artists to be feted at the 2025 American Music Honors.
On Tuesday (1.28,) officials from the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music announced that Robinson, along with John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, legendary singer-songwriter Emmylou Harris, guitarist and rock musician Tom Morello, and progressive country music pioneer Joe Ely will be honored during the ceremony.
In a statement about the event, founding executive director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music, Robert Santelli said “This year’s honorees represent a cross-section of American music.” “Rock, Americana, soul, and country are all represented by some of the most important artists from each of the genres. We are most excited to honor them and welcome them into the American Music Center family.”
The third annual American Music Honors will take place on April 26 the campus of Monmouth University in New Jersey, with Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa serving as presenters along with Steven Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren.
The Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music is the official repository for the musical legacy of The Boss, while the Center for American Music produces museum exhibitions, seminars, concerts, and other public and educational programs that “explore and celebrate the nation’s rich music tradition”.
Tickets for this years event will go on sale on March 25.
