For her contribution to The Color Purple (Music From and Inspired By) soundtrack, Alicia Keys shares the music video for “Lifeline.”
Co-produced by Alicia, Tricky Stewart, Marshmello, and TMS,) “Lifeline” is a one-listen, heart-felt composition supported by the Diane Martel-directed video, that combines soon-to-be released movie clips with images of the singer performing in a variety of costumes and settings.
One of the many new songs inspired by the new Color Purple adaptation, in addition to Keys contribution, the soundtrack features performances by Mary J. Blige, Halle Bailey, Coco Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Missy Elliott, and Jorja Smith. Fantasia Barrino and H.E.R.
The “inspired by” soundtrack includes a full length filled with new cast renditions of the songs originally crafted for The Color Purple stage musical.
The Color Purple will be released in theaters on Christmas Day (12.25,) and features an A-list cast of actors including Barrino, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Aunjanue Ellis, Halle Bailey, and Ciara, along with H.E.R. and Jon Batiste, both of whom make their acting debuts in the film.
