On Monday (12.11,) Alicia Keys surprised British commuters when she held an impromptu recital on a piano donated by Sir Elton John at London’s St Pancras International Station.
A classically trained pianist, Keys performed several of her hit singles, including ‘Empire State of Mind’ (2009,) ‘No One’ (2007), ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ (2003,) and her current soundtrack single ‘Lifeline,’ which will appear in the upcoming film version of The Color Purple.
Prior to arriving at the train station, the now 42-year old superstar singer/songwriter alerted her fans of the surprise performance via Instagram Stories, writing:
“Alright I just decided, I’m here in London and I’m just jumping into Kings Cross right now, like I’m getting out (of the car), and I’m going to jump on Elton John’s piano, ’cause I feel like it,” she said in the clip. “What do you think?”
Alicia’s London metro performance came the day after she took to the stage at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball.
