From the original music suite for the Esports World Cup 2025, Grammy-nominated electronic deejay/producer Alesso releases his official remix of “Ascension.”
Originally composed by Edouard Brenneisen and recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in the United Kingdom, “Ascension” features Grammy nominee cellist Tina Guo.
The remix is a key part of the EWC Music initiative, a groundbreaking program creating a unique musical identity for the Esports World Cup. Launched in April with a four-track suite, the initiative continues to build excitement with live performances, artist collaborations, and global fan activations. “Ascension (Alesso Remix)” will be featured prominently across tournament broadcasts, live events, and digital content throughout the seven-week competition, which kicks off in Riyadh on July 7. The anticipation is further heightened by the announcement that 9x diamond-certified artist Post Malone will headline the Opening Ceremony on July 10.
About his involvement with the sporting event project, the 33-year old Swedish remixer (born Alessandro Renato Rodolfo Lindblad,) stated:
“I’m a huge fan of esports and gaming tournaments – I’m a gamer myself, so combining my two worlds into one on this remix felt so natural.”
Tina Guo added “This collaboration brings together my passion for music and gaming in a progressive house and cinematic fusion.”
Addressing the synergistic collaboration, Ariel Horn, Executive Producer at the Esports World Cup Foundation said “Gaming and EDM have moved together for years… With Alesso and Tina Guo, we’re building another bridge.”
The Esports World Cup 2025 will gather 2,000 elite players and 200 Clubs from over 100 countries, competing in 25 tournaments across 24 games for a record-breaking $70+ million prize pool.
