Demanding he stop playing their music at his political events .ABBA is the latest musical act to push back against presidential candidate Donald Trump
After the politician played ‘The Winner Takes It All,’ ‘Dancing Queen’, and ‘Money, Money, Money’ during his re-election campaign rallies and used music in video footage, the legendary band spoke out through their record label.
On Thursday (8.29) via Reuters, Universal Music issued the following statement:
“Together with the members of Abba, we have discovered that videos have been released where Abba’s music has been used at Trump events, and we have therefore requested that such use be immediately removed and taken down.”
Additionally, the record company made clear that no permission or license was ever granted for the Trump campaign to use their iconic pop songs.
Not the only musicians to hit back against Trump’s use of music, ABBA joins an ever-increasing list of artists including the Foo Fighters, Celine Dion and the estate of late Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor who have all complained.
