A$AP Rocky Named Chanel Brand Ambassador

Chanel has named A$AP Rocky as the French fashion brand’s latest ambassador.

In its online announcement, the superstar rapper/writer is an artist whose “talent, curiosity and limitless creativity” fit the couture company’s ambitions, with Chanel’s artistic director Matthieu Blazy adding:

“Rocky is an incredible artist who puts his heart and soul into every project he’s involved in, in addition to being an incredible human being.” “Musician, actor, father, friend… he brings so much to the table and always delivers with kindness. We are thrilled to welcome him to Chanel and I’m thrilled to work together again.”

Accompanying the announcement is a specially commissioned short film from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry starring the musician (born Rakim Athelston Mayers) opposite The Substance star Margaret Qualley.

Addressing his newly appointed role, Rocky said “Matthieu’s imagination is pushing fashion forward. His designs feel both sensitive and strong, they’re grounded in reality but at the same time, always invite one to wonder. I’m so excited to see him at Chanel.”

Quite the interesting year for the musician, in February, Rocky was found innocent after standing trial for allegedly firing a gun at his former friend A$AP Relli in Hollywood in 2021, and on the brighter side, he’s had a successful year in films, starring in indie hit ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ alongside Rose Byrne and Conan O’Brien, and Spike Lee’s ‘Highest 2 Lowest,’ opposite Denzel Washington.

In September, Rocky and wife Rihanna welcomed their third child together – Rocki Irish Mayers.
