Taylor Swift has renamed her diss track to supposedly cast shade Kanye West.
A seeming reference to Kim Kardashian, for a new live version of the track, Taylor Swift has renamed her song ‘thanK you aIMee.’
Originally released in April as part of her Tortured Poets Department LP, fans noticed the letters K, I and M were all capitalized, leading to rumors that it was about the reality star.
On Thursday (8.15,), Taylor dropped a live version of the song, featuring a mash-up with her 2010 track ‘Mean’ when the public noticed that she had changed the capitalization in the title to ‘thank You aimEe,’ apparently in reference to the rap star, who goes by the name Ye.
Ever since the embattled rapper interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs, the superstar songstress has been in a feud that culminated in 2016 with Kanye’s then-wife Kim shared footage of Taylor’s phone call with Kanye discussing his song ‘Famous.’ Taylor accused her of “falsely paint(ing) as a liar” before taking a step back from the spotlight.
In June when Swift performed the mash-up in London as part of her Eras Tour, the 34-year-old gave an insight into the meaning behind the diss track, stating:
“It really makes me think about how every time someone talks s**t, it just makes me work even harder and it makes me even tougher. So, it also makes me incredibly thankful for those people.”
This week, Taylor Swift claimed victory over Kanye West, whose 11 previous albums have all debuted at the top of the Billboard charts. His newest LP Vultures 2 failed to make it to the top when the #1 slot was usurped by the chanteuse’s latest album.
