In support of ‘The General,’ Guns N’ Roses have shared an AI-generated music video that features animated versions of the band.
Infusing a combination of artificial Intelligence and real design, Axl Rose and Dan Potter (the creative director of London studios Creative Works,) worked in tandem to produce a teaser that combines real-life concert footage with comedic graphic imagery.
The press release for the project states “Between the concert footage, [the video] dives into the subconscious of a young boy who stares down the monsters of dark childhood memories, blurring worlds in the process. The result is unlike anything the band has done before and continues a longstanding historic tradition of bold visuals from Guns N’ Roses.”
‘The General’ was released last December, as the B-side to ‘Perhaps’ and the band also dropped ‘Absurd’ and ‘Hard Skool’ reworked outtakes from 2008’s ‘Chinese Democracy’, in 2021. The album was delayed for years and held up by legal issues, while guitar-slayer Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum left the band, leaving frontman Axl and keyboardist Dizzy Reed.
Born Saul Hudson, Slash previously teased more new music from the hard rock group but subsequently admitted that he and his bandmates hadn’t written anything new since reuniting, stating:
“As far as new Guns is concerned; we haven’t even gotten to that point of really in earnest sitting down and writing.” “We’ve been doing a lot of material that’s been sort of sitting around for a while. So that will be a whole focused endeavour unto itself.”
Slash and Duff rejoined the group in support of their 2016 ‘Not in This Lifetime… Tour,’ and Axl, Slash and Duff’s last studio album was 1993’s ‘The Spaghetti Incident?’.
