Part and parcel with the Here Lies Love musical, David Byrne and Fatboy Slim have announced a series of post-show DJ sets.
Billed as the People Power Disco Hour, the after-show parties will transform New York’s Broadway Theater into a “full-on dance floor”, with audiences encouraged to stay and dance for an hour.
Designed as a celebration of Filipino American History Month , the DJ sets will involve the Broadway show’s co-producer and Filipina American DJ, CherishTheLuv.
In a statement about his involvement, CherishTheLuv said “Fatboy Slim passed the baton to me and it is an honor to be the first ever woman DJ on Broadway.” “Dancing for a cause and to educate is my absolute favorite form of activism! Welcome to NYC’s newest dance scene.”
Designed as an immersive experience inside a discotheque, Here Lies Love was conceived and developed by David Byrne along with musical input from Fatboy Slim.
With previews having taken place in June at the Broadway Theatre before its official opening on July 20, The People Power Disco Hour will kick off on October 7 followed by performances on October 12, 19, 25 and 31 October.
