In a new, exclusive performance video for Vogue, New Zealand singer/songwriter Lorde has mashed up a medley of Britney Spears’ “Break the Ice” with her own song, “Fallen Fruit.”
Staged in New York’s Botanical Garden, the clip begins with Lorde’s cover of Britney’s “Break the Ice,” in which she stripped back the production to simple drums and delicate keys as the song eases into an equally sparse, but no less affecting version of “Fallen Fruit.”
“Fallen Fruit” appears on Lorde’s most recent August-released album, Solar Power, marking her first full length since 2017’s Melodrama. The new LP debuted at Number Three on Rolling Stone’s Top 200 Albums chart and moved 75,800 album-equivalent units within its first week of commercial availability.
In support of Solar Power, Lorde (born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor) is set to embark on an extensive 2022 world tour, the North American leg for which will launch April 3rd in Nashville and wrap May 7th, 2022 in Santa Barbara, California.
