For the very first time since their collective work on 2001’s ‘Renegade,’ Jay-Z and Eminem are credited on the same track.
Scheduled to drop on August 28, the details of a new collaborative collection from Rakim, Kurupt and Masta Killa, were teased by executive producer Matthew “M80” Markoff who took to Instagram with a handwritten track list including the pair’s names attached to one of the interludes as “AOTY 2026”.
Stating that Jay-Z and Eminem don’t rap verses, but instead appear on an interlude paying tribute to Rakim’s influence, Markoff told Rolling Stone: “Em and Jay do not have verses on the interlude. The entire album… was recorded in the past two years.”
Stacked with heavyweight cameos from the likes of Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Buckshot and Daz Dillinger, the forthcoming collection is a full-on celebration of hip-hop royalty.
