Omarion’s Discussed his 3-Year Celibacy

As part of a spiritual experience, Omarion has spoken openly about the few years he spent practicing celibacy.

During his interview with Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman on his On That Note podcast, the singer/songwriter (born Omari Ishmael Grandberry) said that as a young man, being celibate was an intense experience because of how he was “spiritually searching for strength and personal control over myself and my body” adding:

“I did it for three years. Now I look back, I be like, sheesh.” “‘Cause I love women. I love women in all splendor, friendships, best friends, lovers, all that.”  “I think that’s when I was being introduced to a form of telepathy. Feeling closer to someone even when they’re away. I just had the power to say no to anything. Like yo, if I don’t want to do something, I could stop today. And I think that that’s the power of discipline.”

Addressing his prior celibacy experience, it was last summer during a sit-down with the Know Thyself podcast that the now 41-musician said “‘Do you want to have a career? Or do you want to be out here making babies?'” “And we’re like, ‘Huh?’ You know 15, 16, we’re not thinking about that, but it’s a real thing.”

Omarion is the father of two young children with his ex, Apryl Jones, and his forthcoming full length, O2, is scheduled for a 2026 release.
