Mariah Kicks Off Netflix’s NFL Xmas Day Game: Look + Listen

Preempting the December 25 Half Time Beyoncé Bowl, Mariah Carey kicked off Netflix‘s inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday with a performance of her holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

Along with a special cameo from Kevin Hart, the pre-recorded spot saw the self proclaimed Queen of Christmas donning a glittery red suit and singing amidst a snowy backdrop as prior Steelers and Chiefs games flashed across the screen, along with scenes of football fans watching the big game at home.

In a teaser trailer for her opening appearance, Carey said “This Christmas, we all get our wish.” “The NFL is live on Netflix. And I’ll be there, too.”

In October the superstar songstress told Associated Press “I was very young and was just starting out and I felt like people do Christmas albums later in their lives.” “But now people have started to do them whenever, like right at the top of their career. So, I mean, what was I feeling like? I was a little bit apprehensive and then I was like, ‘I love this.’ And I decorated the studio and just had the best time.”

Mariah’s intro gig set the stage for a special halftime show from Beyoncé, who premiered songs from Cowboy Carter live for the very first time.
