Whilst in the process of penning songs for her forthcoming full length, Ellie Goulding drew upon a “personal place.”
During a recent interview with England’s The Sun, the British born singer-songwriter teased her, currently untitled, sixth studio LP.
While Goulding did not reveal the record’s proper release date, she explained that the lyrics to the new songs flowed from her and include “observations” about her personal life, friends, and “connection with nature” adding:
“I’ve been writing about what’s been going on in my life.” “I’ve had more time to get in the studio and spend the time and sit. Songs don’t come that easily to me, especially when they’re from more of a personal place. Sometimes the best songs come from just sitting around, drinking tea, talking. It’s been time-consuming, but it’s time that I’ve needed to take.”
A year since Higher Than Heaven, her last collection in 2023, Ellie has since ended the marriage with her husband Caspar Jopling, whom she wed in 2019 and with whom she shares her three-year-old son, Arthur.
Explaining that her next project has quite a different vibe, the now 37-year old musician said:
“Higher Than Heaven was actually intentionally impersonal.” “It was post-baby, post-pandemic. I just wanted to write some solid pop songs that you can dance to. This time, it’s a little different.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the chanteuse also revealed that she has a top-secret project ready for release, stating “I’ve made a classical album that’s not out yet. I have a huge passion for classical music.”
