The Weeknd Unleashes ‘Heartless’ From Upcoming Album: Listen

It’s been almost three years since The Weeknd dropped his last full-length album Starboy (November 25th, 2016) and it seems the Canadian native has cooked up some serious new material.

Last night, The 29-year-old unveiled the long-awaited leadoff single to his upcoming project, titled “Heartless,” by debuting it on his Memento Mori Beats 1 Radio show before releasing it across all streaming platforms via Republic/XO.

Produced by R&B royalty Metro Boomin and Illangelo, the instrumentals help to egg on The Weeknd as he rap-sings about his lack of emotions following a string of bad and broken relationships. “And I’m back to my ways ’cause I’m heartless/ All this money and this pain got me heartless/ Low life for life ’cause I’m heartless” he vocalizes during the chorus, nodding to utterances from his earlier works.

The song represents a triumphant and epic return to the album process for the man, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, demonstrating that he truly is the King of the Fall. Listen to his hottest track yet below before the drop of “Blinding Lights” on Friday.
