Along with the wild success of his most recent album After Hours, one of The Weeknd‘s other projects has received some additional ancillary action.
Just last week, Abel Tesfaye’s less celebrated 2013 effort Kiss Land reached #1 on the iTunes R&B Album chart, seven years after it’s initial release. Though surprising at first, it’s clear that the massive amount of traffic the Grammy winner’s enjoyed since releasing his newest full length has contributed to a significant amount of backdraft support. And to celebrate the occasion, The Weeknd decided to put on a special edition of his Memento Mori radio show.
On the Friday episode of his Apple Music broadcast, the 30-year-old premiered “a few songs and ideas that didn’t make the album.” Among the previews were a handful of unreleased, fully formed demos from the 2013 album, including “For Your Eyes,” “One of Those Nights,” “Angel Face,” “Another One of Me” and “Heavenly Creatures.” Listen here!
Tesfaye also revealed an unheard remix for Lana Del Rey’s Ultraviolence track “Money Power Glory.” Later, the two would collaborate on the Weeknd’s “Stargirl Interlude” from his 2016 Starboy album and Del Rey’s 2017 single “Lust for Life.”
