If “Heartless” wasn’t already enough, The Weeknd has blessed his fans with “Blinding Lights” an additional new single this week courtesy of Republic Records and XO.
Produced in part by dance music royalty Max Martin, “Blinding Lights” starts off slow but evolves into a high-energy offering that blends the best of The Weeknd’s “False Alarm” together with his Kavinsky collab “Odd Look.” The end product is an upbeat track that is quintessentially 80’s.
The message of the song is much different from its predecessor, with the Canadian-born singer vocalizing ” I’ve been tryna call/ I’ve been on my own for long enough/ Maybe you can show me how to love, maybe/ I’m going through withdrawals/ You don’t even have to do too much/ You can turn me on with just a touch, baby.”
The Starboy returns at the end of 2019 with a renewed vigor and a new album well in sight. In what he’s calling a new “brain melting psychotic chapter,” of his career, the singles leave room for the King of the Fall to stretch his creativity. Stay tuned for more regarding The Weeknd’s rollout of new music.
