While the idea of Martin Garrix linking up with Macklemore and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump may come off to some as a daring one, the final product of the three is surprisingly good.
The RCA Records-released “Summer Days” sees the Dutch DJ laying down a classic EDM production that also contains indie Rock influences. The composition is further heavily characterized by a funky bassline, crisp electric guitar, and Justice-esque vocal effects that create a track some may say sounds fundamentally French. Macklemore’s unique rap style remains at the forefront of the song while Patrick Stump takes care of the chorus, singing, “I got this feeling on a summer day/Knew it when I saw her face/I just thought that she could be the one.”
While the fresh effort might be a hard sell for main stage audiences, it is a pleasant switch up from the bangers Garrix is known for and is a perfect complement to every Summer day. Listen to the upbeat recording below.
