Pride Island is more than just a music event with the announcement of one of its headliners: Janelle Monáe.
Revealing their Saturday lineup on Friday (March 6th), NYC Pride communicated that The ArchAndroid herself would be serving as the evening’s main headliner. She will be accompanied on stage by support acts including Betty Who, Pussy Riot, Luisa Sonza, and DJ duo Coco and Breezy.
The Kansas native released a statement saying “Pride means so much to so many of us, and to have the opportunity to share my live performance during Pride has always been a dream…. Celebrating Pride in NYC is a rite of passage for a queer person. I am grateful for the community it creates, and I can’t wait to party with everyone.”
Monáe is in superb company as prior New York’s Pride headliners included Madonna, Grace Jones, Kylie Minogue, Tove Lo, Patti Labelle, Tegan and Sara, and others. Get tickets to the event taking place from Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th. here.
