While remix competitions are a wonderful way to get artist repertoire heard and released, Liquid State‘s #PressPlay remix competition wants to give creators in-person studio time with Norwegian producers Alan Walker, K-391 and Tungevaag.
Liquid State is Sony Music and tech company Tencent Music Entertainment‘s home for electronic music in China. The business teamed up with YouTube on this current campaign, that asks up-and-coming producers to upload their take on the trio’s “Play,” which is itself a re-imagination of DJ Mangoo‘s 2000 hit “Eurodancer.”
To start, those participating need to download the song’s stems, create their take on “Play” and submit their very best creation. Walker, K-391 and Tungevaang will pick their favorite, and the winner will come to meet the producers for an in-person studio session to finalize the recording. The chosen song will be released via Liquid State as a dual release and the winner could share an official remix with Walker himself.
Submissions will be taken through Sunday, September 8th. But for those who aren’t participating, they can listen to “Play” below.
