Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive 2020’ Remix Finds New Meanings

42 years since its initial release, Gloria Gaynor‘s”I Will Survive” has taken on a whole new meaning given the world’s current concerns including Covid-19, Black Lives Matter, and, of course, Gay Pride.

Getting the new remix treatment from veteran producer/DJ Eric Kupper (who also completed the #1* Billboard dance charting “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough 2017”, “I’m Coming Out / Upside Down 2018”, “The Boss 2019” and “Love Hangover 2020” remixes for Diana Ross – all courtesy of Universal Music), ‘I Will Survive 2020’ has been re-tooled for contemporary worldwide culture and serves as a multi-dimensional reminder for health, social, and sexual related issues.

Described as “a classic emblem of gay culture in the post-Stonewall and AIDS eras and arguably Disco’s greatest anthem”, Gaynor’s biggest hit was first released in 1978 as the B Side with “Substitute” on A Side. It was legendary Studio 54 club DJ, Richie Kaczor, who was responsible for playing what was to soon to become Gloria’s signature song that prompted the Polydor Records to re-prioritize and promote “I Will Survive” … and the rest is history!

Listen to Eric Kupper’s “I Will Survive 2020” remix that has more meaning now than ever before.
