After tons of hype, a little stress and much anticipation, Dua Lipa has unveiled her newest album in the form of Future Nostalgia.
The effort, coming courtesy of Warner Music, is far different than what the 24-year-old songstress has put out so far as it is heavily influenced by Disco themes – something evident throughout the entire work. Making use of funky bass lines, guitar-driven energy, plenty of synths, and lyrical content about love and the world around her, Dua Lipa has assembled a collection of songs that are truly nostalgic, but in her own contemporary way.
“If you wanna run away with me, I know a galaxy/ And I can take you for a ride/ I had a premonition that we fell into a rhythm/ Where the music don’t stop for life/ Glitter in the sky, glitter in my eyes/ Shining just the way I like/ If you’re feeling like you need a little bit of company/ You met me at the perfect time” Lipa sings on “Levitating” while accompanied by all the aforementioned aspects, providing a prototype for the rest of the album. This effort was preceded by singles “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical,” “Break My Heart” and the title track itself. Check out the workout video for “Physical” that keeps in line with the album’s aesthetic below.
