As the world ramps up for the late August MTV VMAs, viewers are now privy to who will be performing at the annual video awards show with BTS, Doja Cat and J Balvin scheduled to strut their stuff on August 30th.
Last year, the South Korean boy band made VMA history by winning the brand new, best K-pop category for their single “Boy With Luv.” and their newest single “ON” has been nominated in three categories this year including best choreography, best pop video and best K-pop. In similar news, Doja Cat secures three nominations for song of the year, best new artist and best direction for her single “Say So.” and J Balvin comes in with four noms, three of which are in the best Latin video category, along with one for best collaboration.
Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead with nine nominations each – including their co-nom for Video of the Year, “Rain on Me” – followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd with six a piece. More artists than ever before will be noticed for their 202 efforts given the addition of the Best Music Video from Home and Best Quarantine Performance categories.
