A recent Instagram posted on Thursday depicts a photo of Carey next to Ariana Grande with the caption “When you order it online vs. when it arrives.” The line implies that Grande couldn’t quite measure up to the 46-year-old pop veteran, and Lovato was quick to offer a rebuttal.
“You got it the wrong way around,” Lovato wrote back, causing Mariah’s legion of “lambs” to attack the former’s own Instagram page.
In an attempt to calm the waters, the “Confident” singer clarified her statement, saying: “Mariah is a legend and is so talented but constantly disses people. It’s nasty the way she treats Jennifer [Lopez]. Ari did nothing wrong.”
That conflict dates back to the early 2000’s when Carey gave a dismissive remark when asked what she thought of JLo. She responded by simply saying “I don’t know her.” Nearly a decade later, Lopez broke the silence in 2014 by telling Andy Cohen “I know from back in the day, I’ve read things that she’s said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met,” Lopez said. “Like, we don’t know each other. I think it’s kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I’m not really aware of.”
“This is why I posted what I did,” says Lovato. “Jen keeps it classy but I’m not afraid to say s–t,” she continued on. “The woman is mean for no reason. Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely.”
The former Disney star is known for being outspoken about her opinions, and this time’s no different. While Mariah Carey hasn’t offered her take on the situation, it looks like these two divas won’t be Cool For The Summer.
