Club Culture Veterans Pay Homage To Frankie Knuckles During Live Stream

August 25th marked Frankie Knuckles Day in recognition of The Godfather of House Music and in celebration of his life, dance music luminairies, deejays, and creators came together for an epic live stream.

The event featured special performances from his longtime musical collaborator behind the alias “Director’s Cut” Eric Kupper, as well as Simon Marlin of The Shapeshifters, DJ Lady D, Mike Dunn of the Chosen Few DJs, Zac Jones, Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner Billy Porter, the House Gospel Choir of London and Inaya Day in addition to testimonials and lore from Frankie’s friends and colleagues.

To celebrate the special day, Kupper released an original sound factory remix of his classic written and produced “The Whistle Song,” out now via Hysteria in partnership with SoSure Music and the Frankie Knuckles Foundation (FKF), a non-profit educational and cultural organization dedicated to the advancement of Knuckle’s ideals to support Music in schools, LGBTQIA+, Youth Homelessness, AIDS research and prevention of Diabetes research. Due to Diabetes-related complications Knuckles died prematurely on March 31st, 2014 in Chicago at the age of 59 .
