Korean pop superstar sensation BTS have once again make social media history as the group’s new single “Dynamite” became the best-ever debut of a music video on YouTube with more than 100 million views within 24 hours of release.
By the end of Friday the 21st, the official visual had racked up a monstrous 101.1 million views to become the most-viewed music video premiere on the video streaming platform. The total puts them ahead of fellow countrywomen Blackpink, who previously held the record with “How You Like That.” that had 86.3 million views within 24 hours of its release back in June.
“Dynamite” marks another first for the K-Pop boy band – comprised of Kim Tae-hyung (better known as V), Jung Ho-seok (J-Hope), Kim Nam-joon (RM), Kim Seok-jin (Jin), Park Ji-min, Jeon Jung-kook, and Min Yoon-gi (Suga) – as it’s BTS’ first single sung completely in English. According to the group “The song aims to bring a new surge of much-needed ‘energy’ to reinvigorate the global community in the midst of Covid-19.”
“Dynamite” was released ahead of BTS’ upcoming album slated for later this year and they’re scheduled to perform the track during the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, August 30th.
