Ariana Grande is saying “thank u, next” to 2018. She let her feelings be known about this year in an Instagram post she put up early this morning (December 31st), noting the struggles of the past twelve months while also looking hopefully toward what 2019 will bring.
The multi-Grammy-nominated 25-year-old penned the note to her fans saying, “farewell 2018, you f–k. i hope this new year brings you all much laughter, clarity and healing. be gentle with yourselves and each other. if we made it thru this last year, we’ll for sure make it thru this one. thank you for everything.”
2018 was a tumultuous year for Grande that included the success of her Sweetener album, the massive dance chart #1 singles “No Tears Left to Cry,” “God is a woman” and “Breathin” along with the release of her breakup anthem “Thank U, Next.” It also contained some not-so-savory moments such as her public engagement/split with Pete Davidson and the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller. Regardless, Billboard’s Woman of the Year is keeping her head up, closing the book on 2018 and forging ahead into 2019 with conviction. See her send-off below.
