The jury is still out on whether Woodstock’s 50th anniversary festival will come alive this year, but regardless of potential live performances, fans can relive the memories of the original 1969 hippie convergence with the upcoming massive box set from Rhino Records.

Woodstock 50 – Back to the Garden – The Definitive 50th Anniversary Archive will land with a satisfying thud on August 2nd as a 38-disc, 432-song, 36 hour limited-edition behemoth that promises to be the first collection featuring every artist who played the original 60’s concert. Complete with every note played during the three days of peace, the compilation is a chronological record of the landmark event that set the template for future American festivals to come. Many of the performances included have been previously unreleased.

The $800 set, which will also be available in more manageable 10-disc and three-disc versions, holds a director’s cut of Michael Wadleigh’s Oscar-winning Woodstock documentary on Blu-Ray, a commemorative Ace guitar strap like the one used by Jimi Hendrix, a replica of the never-circulated festival program and much more. Fans can now pre-order the collection here.
