Slated to be one of the first big-name concerts to take place with an in-person audience since the pandemic hit, the Vanilla Ice Texas has since been canceled due to the increased numbers of positive Corona Virus tests in the area.

Despite being told be many that it was a bad idea the 1990’s “Ice Ice Baby” rapper was scheduled to play a lakeside show just outside Austin on Friday (July 3rd). Citing a significant uptick in Corona Virus cases “Due to the increase in COVID-19 numbers in Austin we’re gonna move the concert to a better date,” Vanilla Ice tweeted. “We were hoping for better Coronavirus numbers by July but Unfortunately the numbers have increased quite a bit so for the safety and health of everyone we’re going to stay home.”

Born Robert Van Winkle, the rap artist had expressed concern about the health of his fans and himself. “I take the coronavirus serious. But we can’t live in a bubble,” said Vanilla Ice after only 84 tickets had been sold before the online ticket broker suspended sales, said Barrett Brannam the venue.
