All the pieces are finally slipping into place for Tool‘s upcoming fifth album. After months and months of slow reveal, the band peeled back one of the last layers on Monday (August 5th) when they posted the cover of Fear Inoculum, due out on August 30th.
The stark image came in the form of a short clip that features the group’s new gold metallic logo floating over a background that appears to be a coiled snake, with the title in the same steampunk-style font at the bottom. The announcement of the project, which is their first since 2006’s 10,000 Days, comes just days after Tool offered their entire catalog to fans across a number of streaming services, thus making their music more accessible than ever before.
In addition to the cover artwork, they dropped the title track this week. Listen to the first taste below.
