Announced just hours ago, The Weeknd, a three-time Grammy Award winner whose cinematic 2020 album After Hours has become the most-streamed R&B album of all time, will perform during the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show.
The King Of The Fall made a statement on the momentus occasion: “We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position. I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”
This will be the first time that The Weeknd has performed at the world’s largest annual musical event, joining the celebrated ranks of such other luminaries as Madonna, Beyonce, Coldplay, Prince, Katy Perry, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lady Gaga, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Michael Jackson.
Scheduled to take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, February 7th, 2021, The Weeknd performance promises to be quite the spectacle as the artist (born Abel Tesfaye,) is known for his incredible vocal/lyrical skill set accentuated by his omnipresent haunting stage productions.
