Taylor Swift has won more American Music Awards than any other artist in the last ten years, so it’s only fitting that the songstress be honored as Artist of the Decade at this year’s ceremony. dick clark productions and ABC announced the award Wednesday (October 30th) by confirming that the superstar will take the stage to perform a medley of her biggest hits from her multi-genre-spanning career.
“Taylor’s impact on music this decade is undeniable and her performances on the American Music Awards have been truly spectacular,” Mark Bracco, executive vice president of programming & development at dick clark productions said in a press statement. “We’re thrilled to honor her as our Artist of the Decade and can’t wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic, career-spanning performance unlike any other!”
Swift currently has the most AMA wins of any female artist in history with 23 and at 2019’s ceremony, she’s also nominated for artist of the year, favorite music video, and favorite female artist. And if she wins two of the five categories she may even surpass Michael Jackson‘s record for most AMAs trophies of all time
The 2019 American Music Awards will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 24th at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
