Back in 2011, Skrillex was little more than a blip on the musical radar when the Los Angeles native put together genre-bending projects like Bangarang which, today, celebrates it’s nine year anniversary.
Despite the immortal Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites that many of his fans revisit on a regular basis, Bangarang was the project that put Skrillex on the international musical map. Teaming up with the likes of The Doors, Sirah, Wolfgang Gartner, Ellie Goulding, and 12th Planet & Kill The Noise, the EDM wünderkind (born Sonny Moore) was reaching across genre aisles with these well-known artists before others followed his lead.
Officially released on December 23rd, Bangarang took influences from electro house, dubstep, progressive house, and trance in such classics as “Right In,” “Devil’s Den,” and “Kyoto” that solidified Skrillex as a top-tier artist for many years to come.
