Organizers have announced the lineup for this year’s Global Citizen Festival, and the amount of talent is massive!
Queen + Adam Lambert, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, OneRepublic, H.E.R., and Carole King are among those slated to perform at the Sept 28 gathering on the Great Lawn in New York City’s Central Park. And Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman will return as the event hosts.
Global Citizen, the social advocacy group, hosts the free annual show to raise awareness of its goal to end extreme poverty by 2030. In the past, attendees have earned their tickets through the completion of various social actions such as signing petitions or contacting legislators and the lucky winners will be notified throughout the Summer.
This year marks a critical one for the movement. “After next year we will have only ten short years to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” comments Hugh Evans, CEO of Global Citizen. “The policies and progress that we make this year, and into 2020, will determine whether we successfully eradicate extreme poverty by 2030, and failure is not an option for the world’s poor.” Hopefully, this year’s event will help inspire more people to get involved in improving dire conditions for people around the globe.
