2018 saw the debut of a new LGBTQ-centric music festival in New York City – LadyLand, which, as one of the more memorable gatherings of that Summer, is now working to outdo itself with a new edition this year.

In addition to artists like Honey Dijon, Mykki Blanco, Gossip and Allie X, Russian feminist controversial punk band Pussy Riot will make a rare U.S. appearance at 2019’s iteration. The collective doesn’t often perform gigs Stateside, so it is a can’t-miss opportunity. This year also sees World Pride hit New York for the first time in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, making this specific culmination of events one to remember.

Pussy Riot gained notoriety via staged unauthorized provocative guerrilla performances in public places, filming their actions as music videos and posting them to the Internet. The group’s lyrical themes include feminism, LGBTQ rights, and opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom the group considers to be a dictator.
